Statement of Intent

Studying English at The Sandon School allows students to be immersed in a vast array of different text types that will challenge, inspire and excite them. We aim to provide students with the skills, knowledge and rigour needed to appreciate the beauty of language through exploration of the writer's craft with an added emphasis on creativity. We pride ourselves on our strong moral purpose to prepare students for all curriculum areas and for life beyond school. Sharing our passion for our subject helps ignite an appetite for reading, writing and the spoken language throughout a student's experience of their English studies. Some challenging text choices and concepts are explored throughout all key stages, helping students to form and express their own opinions on the written word. Overall, we aim for the English curriculum to inspire, to challenge and to help develop happy, inquisitive and successful learners.
