Scale 3 Spinal Points 5-6. Actual salary £12,354 to £12,550 per annum (pay award pending)

 

22 hours per week

11.45 – 16.15 Monday to Thursday

11.45 – 15:45 Friday

1 staff training day in September each year

 

We are looking for an organised and efficient receptionist to join our school as soon as possible.  It is likely that the successful candidate will have excellent inter-personal skills and be an effective communicator who can work both independently and as part of a team.   The role often involves dealing with sensitive information and the postholder would need to demonstrate their ability to handle confidential matters appropriately.

Job Role

To provide a professional receptionist service to the school.

 

DUTIES:

 

  • To be the first point of contact for both telephone and face to face enquiries and take messages where appropriate.
  • To ensure school and students security arrangements are always complied with, including operating the school car park barriers, main entrance intercom system and the electronic registration of visitors.
  • To ensure safeguarding checks are made including Enhanced DBS checks.
  • To accept and sign for deliveries as appropriate.
  • Signposting parents to the appropriate departments when dealing with issues and concerns.
  • To provide administrative support including word processing and clerical duties
  • Sorting and circulation of external/internal post.
  • Assisting staff with the booking of meeting and conference rooms.
  • Taking part in training including the attendance to one staff training day.
  • Communicate with site staff for deliveries, contractors and during fire evacuations.

 

General:

These duties may change and evolve with the needs of the department. You are required to undertake such other duties as may reasonably be requested of you commensurate with your grade.

 

Continuing Professional Development

In conjunction with the line manager, take responsibility for personal professional development, keeping up to date with research and developments related to the role.

Qualifications & Experience

Specific qualifications

·      GCSE English & Maths Grade C/4 or above

Knowledge, skills & experience

·      Experience of establishing effective, appropriate relationships with a variety of young people at the relevant age and their families.

·      An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures or the willingness to train

·      Effective communicator with a wide range of stakeholders

·      Experience of working in a similar role in a school environment (desirable)

·      Experience of working with management information systems (SIMS desirable)

Literacy

·      Confident reading and writing skills

Technology

·      Good IT skills
